How I Chose My Wedding Day Fragrance as a Gourmand Girlie

As a beauty professional, scent is more than just an accessory for me — it’s a mood, a memory. Since it is frowned upon for estheticians to wear fragrances in the treatment room, I try to have fun with scents on my off days. In my down time, you’ll catch me floating through clouds of warm vanilla, wrapped in cozy notes that feel like second skin.

My daily go-to’s?

Gourmand fragrances — especially those laced with vanilla, tonka, and amber — are my love language. So when it came time to choose my wedding day fragrance, I knew two things: It needed to feel like me and elevate me. I wanted something memorable that my future husband would love but I also felt inspired to explore beyond my usual favorites. I was open to being surprised.

Stepping Outside My Scent Comfort Zone

I tested out the following 4 fragrances that had either been on my radar or newly recommended:

• Naked Beauty by Modern Magic

• Snif Vanilla Vice

• Snif Me

• Vilhelm Parfumerie Moon Carnival

Each of them had something special. Naked Beauty felt like new territory for me with neroli. Snif Me was playful and understated with a light peach finish. Moon Carnival was the exact love story I was looking for: tropical, floral, and spun with a creamy sweetness that clung to the skin. And Vanilla Vice? That one felt like it was made for me -decadent, warm, and unapologetically indulgent.

The Final Decision: Staying True to My Roots (With a Twist)

As much as I played with the idea of choosing something completely new and out-of-the-box, my gourmand-loving heart won. I have no regrets.

I ended up layering two of the scents that felt the most me, but elevated:

• Vilhelm Parfumerie Moon Carnival as the base.

• Snif Vanilla Vice over the top.

And for that extra razzle dazzle? I gave my bouquet a light misting of Vanilla Vice. Every time I leaned in for a hug or held my flowers close, the scent reminded me I was grounded in who I am — sweet, warm, and unforgettable. And my husband loved it! 

As for the other fragrances... I have begun to wear them as fun summer floral scents. The Snif Me is my go to after a refreshing afternoon shower to get relief from the summer heat. The Naked Beauty is for evening activities, dinner dates and sensual nights.
